We admit it. We’re sometimes a little of envious of WTOP Radio’s “Sprawl and Crawl” reporter, Adam Tuss. Not only did he get to tag along with Mayor Fenty while he showed New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg around the Metro system today, but he also got to hang out with Robert D. Lisle, one of the funniest Yellow line train operators around. “His voice is silky smooth as he announces station names and he is downright hilarious when he decides to tell a joke in between stops,” writes Tuss. We couldn’t agree more.
As the life of transit geeks go, Adam’s had a pretty awesome week, and he clues us in as to the reason for Bloomberg’s visit: he’s helping his pal Fenty (and, for that matter, the state of Virginia by proxy) out with trying to hype the city’s need for the floundering Dulles Rail project. Bloomberg is apparently trying to get similar rail projects off the ground that would reach New York City airports, and is presumably having about as much luck as our local officials in convincing the Federal Transit Administration that infrastructure investment is a good thing. Thanks for the solid, Mayor Bloomberg, though we fear your star power won’t be nearly enough to save Dulles Rail at this point.
After the jump, you guessed it, more Red line delays, and did someone get hit by a Blue line train last night or not?
