WMATA didn’t have its regular weekend track work information up by the time we ran yesterday’s Transit on Thursday, so we’re posting it below.

Red Line: The switch maintenance work at the Van Ness-UDC Metrorail station continues for the second of four weekends. Bottom line: Don’t take the Red line if you can avoid it.

Blue and Orange Lines: Verizon is doing some of their regular maintenance work in the tunnels between the Smithsonian and Capitol South stations on the Blue and Orange lines, which could cause up to 20 minute delays. Also on the Blue line, maintenance work at the Morgan Boulevard station will cause delays between that station and the Largo Town Center station.

Green Line: Metro will be testing some new rail cars on the Green line on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Inbound and outbound trains will share one track between the Greenbelt and College Park stations, which could cause delays of up to 10-15 minutes.

Also note that for some strange reason Alexandria is having its St. Patrick’s Day parade this Saturday, which will cause some bus route detours, and that Irving Street NW between 14th & 16th Streets will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday while construction crews hurry to finish the Target before it opens at the new DC USA complex on March 9. H buses will be detoured around the closure.
