READING: Environmentalists may be interested in checking out Fred Krupp’s reading at Politics and Prose, where he’ll talk about his book, Earth: The Sequel. It’s about everyday innovators and investors who are proving solutions to global warming and energy efficiency are possible. 7 p.m.

MUSIC: Hardcore Tuesdays premieres tonight at Asylum. Three local hardcore bands, Absolute Vengeance, Gryffindor, and Haunted Shores, kick off the festivities. $5, 9 p.m.

JAZZ: Brian Bromberg has toured the world along side legends in both the jazz and pop world. Tonight leads his own group with 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley as he tours in support of Downright Upright, his latest recording that was nominated for a Grammy in the Contemporary Jazz category. Tickets are $30 +$12.50 minimum/surcharge.

HAPPY HOUR: SpeakeasyDC, the monthly open mike storytelling series that normally takes place at Station 9, is at Marvin tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m. recruiting storytellers and aspiring radio producers to join their collective. A chance to earn $500 is up for grabs if they end up choosing your pitch.
