As tempting as it was to choose this one for Photo of the Day today just to ruffle some feathers, it came down to two fascinating architectural pattern shots. This shot of the side of a hotel by bensconsin has some fantastic vertical lines contrasting with the curviness of the identical mod chairs (not to mention the fact it looks like it was taken with a medium format camera, not a Canon 40D).

But Hoffmann’s photo above, of a hallway at the Reynolds Center, gets bonus points for Excellent Use of a Fisheye Lens. The distortion emphasizes the striking lines of the architecture, forcing your eye to follow them around the photo as they converge. Also, the black and white conversion of an already monotone scene gives it a subtle antique finish. EXIF.
