So, let’s see if we have all the enormous events happening in the city this weekend down: the National Marathon on Saturday, Opening Day at Nationals Park on Sunday, the beginning of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, and the 42nd Annual Smithsonian Kite Festival. Did we forget anything?

Here’s what you need to know: Metro will open at 5 a.m. on Saturday to help get the marathon runners to the starting line on time at 7 a.m. You can download a course map for the marathon. The race will cause the rerouting of 41 Metrobus routes, and a significant number of street closings, including major arteries like South Capitol Street SW, Pennsylvania Avenue SE, North Capitol Street NW, and many, many others – for what could amount to be hours. A full set of street closures and general information regarding traveling into the race’s interior can be found here.

With the addition of the Kite Festival and the number of tourists heading down to the Tidal Basin and National Mall this weekend, not to mention the Nats’ Opening Day on Sunday, we have just two words for you this weekend: Take Metro.
