On Capitol Hill, “March Madness” might refer to any number of psychoses. Surely a lot of college basketball fans took heart/umbrage in March 2006 when Duke (Cunningham) was sentenced to prison over charges of bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion.

Now Roll Call is rendering NCAA brackets in a language that sports-averse D.C. wonks will understand. The newspaper’s Final Four, as represented by the Representatives associated with the top-seed schools that survived sports’ most exciting elimination contest, are David Price (D-NC), Steve Cohen (D-TN), Nancy Boyda (D-KS), and Henry Waxman (D-CA).

Henry Waxman is considered to be on of the most powerful liberal representatives in Congress, but political pedigree will not avail him if he can’t guard in the low post against Steve Cohen, the Memphis rep who beat the “Jews hate Jesus” rap. Nancy Boyda can hold her own with retired military generals — she’s a shoe-in over David Price. Given our esteemed editor’s alma mater commitments, DCist stands behind Boyda all the way.

Considered with the Morning News’ Tournament of Books and the Chicago Tribune‘s Saturday Night Live cast-member tourney, Roll Call‘s brackets nudge us ever closer toward having enough silly brackets to fill out a tournament of tournaments.

Oh, and hello — our name is Kriston Capps and we’re editing DCist for the day.
