FILM: The Arlington Cinema N Draft House is featuring an advanced screening of Scorsese’s Rolling Stones documentary, Shine A Light. If you liked what he did with the Bob Dylan pic No Direction Home, or just want to see Keith Richards’ face in extreme close up, head to Arlington for the 7:30 show. Arrive early — the event is free, but entrance is first come/first served.
UPDATE: DCist Ian let us know that the first come/first served aspect isn’t a free for all. It’s only open to people signed up for the Arlington Cinema N Draft House newsletter that have printed out passes to the screening. So unless you went through the steps to get yourself a pass, chance are you’ll be turned away if you just show up. Apologies for the confusion.
MUSIC: Three Stars alums and garage rockers par excellence The Hall Monitors will be shaking the dust off of the rafters at DC9 tonight. With fellow 60s-music-lovers The Woggles. 8:30 p.m., $10
READING: Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel will appear at Politics and Prose to talk about his book America: Our Next Chapter. We’re hoping America’s book is like a Jane Austen novel, where in the next chapter a rich suitor whisks us away from our depressing life in the country. Not sure what the metaphor is there, but use your imagination. 7 p.m.
DRINKS: Still in the mood to celebrate the cherry blossom festival? Head to Zaytinya for their sour cherry cocktail.
ART: Join the curator for contemporary art at the Smithsonian American Art Musuem for a gallery talk about the Color Field movement, from its inception to influence on current techniques. Meet at the G Street lobby. Free, 5:30 p.m.
TELEVISION: Or, do what we’ll be doing: stay at home, watch Top Chef and make a drinking game out of how many times Andrew has to be bleeped out during tonight’s episode.
