We have to assume the folks behind the National Cherry Blossom Festival know what they’re getting into with this one. They’re asking for your very best photographs from this year’s Tidal Basin blossom display for their annual photo contest, and judging by the approximately 600 billion just in the DCist Flickr pool, they better have a lot of server space ready.
The contest began on Monday, and you can enter ONE photo into the contest before April 30. Head over to the self-publishing site Lulu.com, sponsor of this year’s contest, to upload your winner. Their favorite 12 photographs will be picked between two categories, scenic views and Festival activities, and winners will get their images displayed in the 2009 Official NCBF calendar, which comes out in May (winners get a free copy). From this lot, judges will pick one winner in each category, and those photographers get two roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines. The grand prize winner between those two gets their image on the cover.
It costs nothing to enter and we know you’ve got a cherry blossom photo at hand, so how about all you DCist contributors head over and rule that contest, eh?
