MOVIE: The AFI Silver Theater is screening a 70 mm print of 2001: A Space Odyssey all next week to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary. But they’ve got two less well publicized screenings, tonight and tomorrow night at 9 p.m., also on the calendar, so get in while the getting’s good.

SPORTS: The Washington Capitals host their first game 7 playoff match since 1992 tonight at the Verizon Center. You can take your chances with scalpers outside the door, or you can settle in to your favorite bar and hope too many people don’t ask them to switch the channel to the Pennsylvania primary returns. Try some place with a lot of TVs, just to make sure, like Lucky Bar or Solly’s. The Caps take on the Flyers at 7 p.m.

MUSIC: The one and only Lou Reed is at the 9:30 Club for a sold out show, but Craigslist does seem to have some options. Doors at 7:30, show at 9 p.m.

MUSIC: If “Japanese action comic punk” sounds like something you’d like to see, hit the Black Cat backstage for Peelander-Z, with Pessimist Parade and Nihilitia. 9 p.m, $8.

READING: Celebrate Earth Day at Busboys and Poets in D.C. with Lester Brown, president of the Earth Policy Institute, who will discuss and sign copies of his new book, Plan B 3.0: Mobilizing to Save Civilization. 6 p.m.
