This Saturday you can find all 50 members of Team DCist out at Harriet Tubman Elementary School in Columbia Heights, landscaping the grounds, painting the windows, and fixing up playground games for Servathon 2008. We’re thrilled so many of you stepped up to volunteer this year, and can’t wait to meet you all somewhere other than a comment thread.

We wanted to take one last opportunity to ask our entire readership for $5 or $10 to contribute to our team. Aside from your loyal readership, we try not to ask much of y’all, but a few bucks from each of you would go a long way. The money donated through Servathon goes to help the city that we write about on this site everyday. If we reach our donation goal, we can help Greater DC Cares

  • Implement 1,000 volunteer projects;
  • Provide free tools through their tool “lending library” so that local nonprofits can upgrade their facilities;
  • Connect skilled volunteers with nonprofits to help build their capacity;
  • Paint 3,000 classrooms in local public schools;
  • And so much more!

    You can donate right up until Team DCist rolls up our shirtsleeves on May 3 at 9 a.m. For those of you who are already team members, don’t forget to ask your friends and family to donate a few bucks. Since it’s all tax deductible, they’ll no doubt appreciate the opportunity to donate to a worthy, local cause, right?

    We’ll see Team DCist in the schoolyard this Saturday, and don’t forget to join us for the after-party at Town, 2009 8th Street NW, at 1 p.m.
