Dish of the Week: Surprise soup
Where: Corduroy
Surprise soup, because upon calling Corduroy today, the person who answered the phone said the menu will be a surprise. Because, oh yeah, tonight is Corduroy’s Friends and Family Night. We all know what that means… the new Corduroy (on 9th Street NW, across from the Convention Center) will be opening this week, and you can now make reservations by phone. This was after a swirl of rumors about the opening date, as everyone seems to want to be the first to spread the news. The current menu will be three courses for $45 with about five items to choose from for each course.
The soups at Corduroy are some of the restaurant’s most popular items. Made from rich ingredients like lobster and duck stock, they still capture the essence of the primary ingredients, whether it’s sweet corn, parsnips or other beautiful little things. The dedication to local and seasonal ingredients are what keep people coming back. And I am sure there are lots of people antsy to get their soft shell crabs for the season.
