READING: Sure to be a hot ticket tonight: former White House press secretary Scott McClellan’s appearance at Politics and Prose, where he’ll read from What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception, his new tell-all that’s chapped a lot of hides in the Bush administration over the last few weeks. McClellan will read and discuss his book at 7 p.m. Knowing how many political junkies usually show up for readings at P&P, we’d suggest a very early arrival.
MUSIC: Brooklyn’s post-prog-rock noisemakers Bear in Heaven play DC9. With tiger and the snow and Mother. $10 at the door, 9 p.m.
READING: Comedian, The Daily Show contributor and local boy Lewis Black will be at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue to read from his new book, Me of Little Faith. Two tickets are free with a book purchase at Politics and Prose, or cost $6 each. The event is co-sponsored by DC Comedy Fest. 7:30 p.m.
MOVIE: The AFI Silver is screening The Naked Spur, Anthony Mann’s brilliant western featuring Jimmy Stewart as an obsessed bounty hunter, and Janet Leigh as the woman he probably shouldn’t be falling for. This is the kind of manhunt/outlaw film that defines the genre. Part of the Jimmy Stewart Centennial, 7 p.m.
