MUSIC: There’s still plenty of tickets available to see R.E.M., Modest Mouse and The National at Merriweather tonight. So many, in fact, that it’s pretty easy to scare up some below market prices for them on Craigslist. Regular tickets cost $40-$75, but we’re seeing half-priced resale in many listings. We know the venue is far away, but these are three fantastic bands, so take advantage. 6:30 p.m.
PRIDE WEEK: It’s the Mister and Miss Capital Pride Pageant at Town. Watch as contestants compete in categories like evening wear and talent. $10 to get in. 7:30 p.m.
MUSIC: There’s also still tickets available to see Kim Deal and the rest of The Breeders at the 9:30 Club. With The Montana Boys, $25, 7:30 p.m.
READING: In The New Blue Media, Theodore Hamm takes a look at the new face of progressive media, from the satire of The Daily Show to the in-your-face documentary style of Michael Moore, and how it’s transforming politics. Hamm will be at the Olsson’s in Dupont Circle to discuss and sign copies of his book. 7 p.m.
