MOVIE: The James Bond Film Festival continues in NoMa, with tonight featuring the Roger Moore Bond in The Spy Who Loved Me. Watch Bond take on Jaws as he investigates the hijacking of British and Russian submarines alongside the beautiful Barbara Bach. The film is screening outdoors at the intersection of Florida and New York Avenues NE, across the street from the New York Avenue Metro station. The Washington Area Bicyclist Association has also sponsored this screening as the festival’s first Bike-In Movie Night, with WABA volunteer bike valets parking filmgoers’ bikes for free. The film starts at sundown.

JAZZ: The recently profiled Rob Coltun, guitarist and co-owner of the Bossa Bistro & Lounge, leads one of his groups, Improviso, on Thursday night. 10 p.m. No cover.

THEATER: The Capital Fringe Festival kicks off formally tonight. We wish we could give you the inside scoop on what to see first, but it’s the very nature of Fringe’s unjuried, anything goes philosophy that means you just don’t know what you’re going to get until you get there. We’ll have plenty of reviews for you over the course of the festival, which runs through July 27. In the meantime, peruse the schedule for yourself and let us know if you end up seeing anything great.

MOVIE: First, read our review of In the Family, Joanna Rudnick’s documentary about trying to decide whether to have her breasts and ovaries removed after she tests positive for the BRCA gene mutation. Second, head over the Genetic Alliance web site right now to register for any remaining spaces for two free screenings tonight of the film, at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., at the Landmark E Street Cinemas.

MOVIE: Free documentary at the Black Cat tonight: Catch Live at CBGB’s: Dead Boys and Bad Brains in the backstage at 9 p.m.

MUSIC: Fort Reno has Three Stars alums The Black & White Jacksons, plus John Wayne Hero and Friends of the Library. 7:15 p.m., free.

MUSIC: DC9 has solo shows from some of D.C.’s best known band leaders, including Martin Royle, formerly of the Washington Social Club, and Sam Simkoff of Le Loup. With Sad Crocodile. $8, 9:30 p.m.
