Good morning, Washington. It was a hectic, and often times tragic news weekend here in D.C. In addition to some of the headlines you see in the “Briefly Noted” section below, there was also the death of former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, who succumbed to cancer Saturday at age 53; the baffling double decker bus accident Friday night that killed two Nationals fans on their way to the ballpark; and the 17 dead ducks found floating in the Capitol Reflecting Pool. All in all, we hope you had a better weekend than what Monday morning’s headlines suggest.

Witnesses Help Capture Adams Morgan Gunman: After a shooting in the middle of the day Sunday on Columbia Road in Adams Morgan, witnesses helped chase down the gunman and aided in his capture. NBC4 says that police still don’t know the motive behind the shooting, which happened about noon outside a store. The victim was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police have charged 41-year-old Adrian Guerra with assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting.

Who Killed Chandra Levy?: The Post began an investigative serial on Sunday revisiting the homicide investigation of Chandra Levy. Two parts of the 12-part series — that’s a whole lotta parts — have already been published, which so far make the case that a series of police mistakes led to Chandra’s body not having been discovered until it was too late to collect crucial forensic evidence. It’s not exactly a big revelation, and we’re not sure how the serial will stand up over so many, many more days to come, but for Washingtonians still haunted by Chandra’s killing, it makes for a good reminder after all these years that someone in this city may have gotten away with murder.
