“Woo! I’m so glad it’s Friday,” quipped a slightly inebriated audience member just minutes before the Ting Tings took the stage on a balmy Tuesday evening at the 9:30 Club. The British duo’s set was short; only eight songs from their first full length album, plus an encore of “We Started Nothing.” Their album, which bears the same title, was released in the U.S. in June and features ten irreverent, danceable indie pop songs.

Before a packed house, cloaked in darkness, the show began with Jules De Martino taking his place behind a drum kit. With a guitar in his lap and his feet tending to the kick drum and high hat, he launched into an extended intro for “We Walk”. His partner in crime, Katie White, joined him on stage soon after the metronomic beat and guitar were firmly cemented. She was welcomed by loud applause from the audience.
