Good morning, Washington. It would be hard to oversell the unusually perfect weather we’ve all been enjoying for the past few days. I will admit to humming “Something Good” from The Sound of Music under my breath this morning when I stepped outside to greet breezy, downright cool D.C. weather in August. The AP (via WTOP) drives the point home even more by remembering a powerful F-4 tornado that touched down in Western Maryland exactly ten years ago. What on earth could we have done to deserve such nice weather during the part of the year that’s supposed to be the most miserable? We hope you get out and enjoy it while it lasts.

Man Dies in Bay Bridge Accident: If you were headed back in to the city from the beach this weekend, you likely had a terrible time on the road, thanks to miles and miles of backup created by a scary accident on the Bay Bridge. A truck driver was killed when his tractor-trailer was forced off the bridge and plunged into the water below. NBC4 has images of the scene, which are like something out of a nightmare. Clean up of the accident is still going on this morning.

Commercial Real Estate Deals Way Down in D.C.: More bad economic news from the Post, which reports that commercial real estate deals in the District are down 61 percent compared to last year. Declines in Northern Virginia’s commercial real estate market are even more pronounced, with an 87 percent decline. Office leasing demand has also gone down, although not as dramatically, even though rents have actually gone up slightly.
