>> Saxophonist Perry Conticchio leads a quintet this Friday at Jazz in the Garden. A former doctor, Conticchio left his practice to become a full time jazz musician. His group will include trombonist and Three Stars alum, Reginald Cyntje. 5 p.m. Free.

>> Baltimore’s Fertile Ground play the 9:30 Club‘s late show, along with Afi and DJ Lance Reynolds. $25, 11 p.m.

SATURDAY:

>> Forego brunch and go directly to the 9:30 Club, for the Girls Rock! DC Camper Showcase, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The performance will feature eight bands made up of girls aged 8 to 18, all of whom just completed a week of rock ‘n’ roll summer camp. Each band will play one song that they wrote and arranged over the course of the camp, plus a special performance by a band made up of the camp’s instructors. Tickets are $5-$10, on a sliding scale, and will be available at the door.

>> Head back to the 9:30 Club to catch The Faint, with Sly Child and Jaguar Love. $20, 8 p.m. doors.

>> SMV, a supergroup led by bassists Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, and Victor Wooten, performs an 8 p.m. show at Wolf Trap. Don’t miss our full preview of the show. Tickets are $22-$75.

>> Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder kicks off a two-night solo stand at the Warner Theatre, with Liam Finn opening. $77, 7:30 p.m.

>> Head over to Drop Electric‘s Benefit for Padma, a show to raise money for vocalist Padma Soundararajan, who lost most of her family to a car accident in India this summer. At the Rock and Roll Hotel with The.Blackout.District, Hello Tokyo, and Red Ink. 8:30 p.m. doors/9:30 p.m. show, $10.
