>> Without question, Darfur has become one of the great human tragedies in recent history. Amnesty International will be hosting a show at DC9 featuring Elikeh and TolumiDE. $10, 9 p.m.
Friday:
>> Minneapolis-based Mint Condition became one of the more notable R&B groups/bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s through songs like “Breaking My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)” and “U Send Me Swinging”. They’ll be joined at Strathmore in North Bethesda by ’90s crooner Jon B. $35-$65, 7:30 p.m.
>> Baltimore native and former Incognito vocalist, Maysa, begins a three day run at the Birchmere. $39.50, 7:30 p.m.
>> Local producer and DJ, Tittsworth, will be holding a record release party at the 9:30 Club. Joining him will be Detroit legend DJ Assault and a host of others. $15, 9 p.m.
Saturday:
>> D.C. is the venue for a number of protests and marches, but this is the first time the “Million DJ March” has occurred. Meant to highlight the role DJs play in the music world, the show will take place on The Mall. Slated to appear are KRS-One, Kia Shine, and many others. Free, 11 a.m.
>> It’s another year, which means there’s another birthday for the Godfather of Go-Go, Chuck Brown. Whether it’s “Bustin’ Loose” or “Ashley’s Roachclip“, Chuck’s always been funky and a D.C. staple, even at age 74. The celebration will go down at the 9:30 Club. $25, 9 p.m.
Sunday:
>> Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince all turned 50 this year and DJ Dredd will be pitting the half-centenarians against each other during one of his “Versus” shows at the Black Cat. $12, 9 p.m.
>> The Eighteenth Street Lounge will be celebrating the long weekend with three rooms of music. Sounds will be provided by the Solomonic Soundsystem, Eclectic Sounds, and DJ Sam Burns. $10, 10 p.m.
>> The Just BCUS party is back at Bohemian Caverns for the extended weekend. Expect a little bit of everything musically from DJs Roddy Rod and Underdog, as well as Damu. $7, 10 p.m.
Monday:
>> Probably best known for his work with Tony! Toni! Tone!, Raphael Saadiq has put together an impressive portfolio as a solo artist and producer. He’ll be one of the few people laboring on Monday during his show at the Black Cat. $25, 8 p.m.
