MUSIC: Big night for local music at Iota, where Three Stars alums Bellflur are coming together with members of Exit Clov, The Bonapartes, Cobra Collective and Sun Child for a large band set. Pree, the current project from former Le Loup guitarist May Tabol and her rotating cast of musicians, will be opening. 9 p.m., $10.

ART: Hear curators Paul Roth and Frank Goodyear discuss the Richard Avedon exhibit, Politics of Power, at the Corcoran. 7 p.m., $10.

FOOD & DRINK: The Washington Club at 15 Dupont Cir NW is hosting its first ever cupcake contest, where anyone from pros to amateurs was allowed to enter to win, uh, bragging rights? (Prizes aren’t totally clear). It’s too late to sign up to bake, but you can still RSVP via Facebook to attend. Admission is $5, cash bar, and delicious, free cupcakes will be available for tasting. 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

MOVIE: The AFI Silver continues its Latin American Film Festival tonight with The Sky, The Earth and the Rain, the first film from promising Chilean filmmaker Jose Luis Torres Leiva, whose style of capturing patterns and breathtaking images as a method of storytelling is gaining a lot of attention. 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

PERFORMANCE: Palace of Wonders presents something they’re calling Bizarre Bazaar Bellydance, an evening of multicultural, eclectic bellydancing with a roster of six performers. Doors at 7 p.m., show not until 9:30. $10.
