Shepard Fairey was out in Logan Circle today touching up a mural he put up overnight on the alley wall next to Logan Hardware on P Street NW, between 14th and 15th. Fairey is most well-known for his “André the Giant Has a Posse” stickers, which morphed into the ubiquitous Obey Giant street art project, and more recently for his graphic work depicting Barack Obama.
The mural he’s put up in the alley is a version of a piece called Duality of Humanity, which is included in his upcoming show with Al Farrow, Regime Change Starts at Home, at Irvine Contemporary. The opening reception for the show is this Saturday, October 18, from 6-9 p.m., with an Artists’ Dialogue with Fairey and Farrow scheduled at the Corcoran Gallery of Art on Friday at 7 p.m.
