>> It’s Howard Homecoming weekend, and the festivities really get going tonight when Howard alum Eric Roberson performs at Bohemian Caverns. Joining him will be rising soul star, Algebra. $20 in advance, 8 p.m.

>> Rising local band The Jet Age are at the Rock and Roll Hotel, opening for Magnetic Morning and Brooklyn’s Springhouse. $12, doors at 8:30 p.m.

>> The Cassettes have their big album release party tonight at the Black Cat, with Stamen and Pistils and Brass Bed. 9 p.m., $10.

>> The first National Symphony Orchestra concerts conducted by the gifted Iván Fischer continue tonight and Saturday, featuring the third symphony of Gustav Mahler in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Read our review. Tickets: $20 to $80. 8 p.m.

SATURDAY:

>> Howard Homecoming continues with a co-ed slumber party at The Republic, opening at 2 a.m. and going until 10 a.m. Drink specials run from 2 to 3, with a breakfast bar opening after the liquor shuts down. Expect to see a crazy line forming for this starting at 1 a.m.

>> Head to Irvine Contemporary for the opening of Shepard Fairey and Al Farrow’s new exhibit, Regime Change Starts at Home, which also features the new video work of Paul D. Miller (DJ Spooky). Post-opening, the boys are heading to the Red Lounge for a Regime Change afterparty, making the evening complete with a DJ set by Fairey. >> Also opening tonight at G Fine Art is Black, a group show featuring the work of some very famous artists: Sam Gilliam, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Richard Serra, Frank Stella, Martin Puryear, Ad Reinhardt and others. 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

>> The Honfleur Gallery Concert Series continues with Baltimore avant rock band Yveto, who will be performing the musical score for the animated The Adventures of Prince Achmed. Free.

>> Superstar jazz drummer Terri Lyne Carrington has been at the forefront of the music scene for two decades, having recorded and toured with artists ranging from Herbie Hancock to Cassandra Wilson. She’ll be leading her own group at the Kennedy Center. Tickets to the 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. sets are $25.

>> Pierced Arrows are the latest band led by Portland, Oregon’s Fred Cole, formerly of Dead Moon. They’re at DC9 with The Shirks, Love City and Hollywood. 9:30 p.m., $10 at the door ($8 in advance).

SUNDAY:

>> Catch the fun electro-pop of Sweden’s Lykki Li at Black Cat . With Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, $15, 8 p.m.

>> T-Pain and T.I. are at the Patriot Center. $40-$120, 7:30 p.m.
