We’re experimenting with moving the Weekend Picks to Thursdays. Let us know what you think.
THURSDAY:
>> The AFI Silver is screening both Rosemary’s Baby (7 p.m.) and Night of the Living Dead (9:45 p.m.). Get in the Halloween spirit with two of the greatest horror genre films of all time.
>> The Velvet Lounge‘s Bee’s Knees All Hallows Eve Party will feature a costume contest and performances by Little Teeth, Sleeping in the Aviary and a bunch of DJs. $3 cover, $8 to see the bands, 9 p.m.
>> Local author Eric Nuzum is celebrating the release of the paperback version of The Dead Travel Fast: Stalking Vampires from Nosferatu to Count Chocula, his compendium of all things vampire, with what he tells DCist will be “one of the more unusual book readings that Barnes and Noble has hosted.” Find out what Eric has in store at the free 7:30 p.m. event at the Georgetown Barnes and Noble (3040 M Street NW). Read our review of The Dead Travel Fast.
>> Cirque du Soleil opens Kooza today at National Harbor. Tickets are $55 to $125. 8 p.m., performances run until December 14.
>> Tokyo’s Polysics sport neon orange jumpsuits and anime-style haircuts, and play spastic, new-wave-influenced synth-punk. They’re playing with Jaguar Love (ex-Blood Brothers/Pretty Girls Make Graves) and Black Gold at the Black Cat‘s backstage, $12, 9 p.m.
