We’re hearing from our roving band of DCist contributors that Election Day lines across the metro area were crazy long this morning – in many cases longer than longtime residents could remember them ever being before. Fire at FedEx Field: Monday Night Football at FedEx Field turned into a nightmare in more ways than one last night, after a big fire in the parking lot destroyed seven cars, the Post reports. What caused the fire? It’s unclear, though both bummed out Redskins fans and panicked John McCain supporters are likely being questioned.

More Crime Cameras Coming to Metro: The Examiner reports that Metro is moving forward with its plans to install surveillance cameras outside the 10 highest crime Metro stations. Metro is expected to formally initiate the contract to install the cameras at the Rhode Island Avenue, Congress Heights, Deanwood, Minnesota Avenue, Fort Totten, Takoma, Brookland-CUA, Columbia Heights, Georgia Avenue-Petworth, Tenleytown, Vienna and Franconia-Springfield stations later this week.

Obama Speaks About His Grandmother: This has to be the saddest story of the campaign: Barack Obama’s grandmother died on Sunday, just days before her grandson appeared poised to win the presidency. Here’s some footage of Obama talking about her passing yesterday during a speech in North Carolina.
