  • A veteran D.C. police officer shot and critically wounded a suicidal man this morning, reports the Post. Police responded to a 911 call for an attempted suicide at 1325 13th Street NW, and one officer shot the man after he allegedly wielded a knife against the officers during a struggle. The Blade says the man was gay and that he had been clinically depressed since his domestic partner died last year.
  • The Politico quotes Mayor Adrian Fenty as believing that the Obamas will be more involved in the local D.C. community than any previous first family. Eleanor Holmes Norton is more skeptical.
  • The Washington Times says SweeperCam parking tickets still haven’t started being issued in D.C. DPW originally planned to start issuing real tickets on Oct. 14, but apparently the cameras still aren’t fully ready.
