Good morning, D.C. Hopefully you’re not planning on driving around all day today. The combined effect of the G20 Summit and the messy weather forecast could make getting around the city quite a challenge. As a reminder, the Judiciary Square Metro station is closed until 8 p.m. tonight. Making things tougher will be the sizable Prop 8 protest march beginning at the Reflecting Pool and heading up 14th Street — the protest starts at 1:30.
So, there’s no need to panic, right? Well, the Washington Times, calling the summit “a World Bank-International Monetary Fund meeting on steroids,” makes sure to note that “ordinary mortals are liable to get crushed.” Erm, okay. Be careful on the roads, people.
>> Mayor Fenty will be at Nationals Park today to show off the different pieces of the Anacostia Waterfront Initiative – D.C. Wire says that attendees will be able to take buses from the stadium and check out the projects in person.
>> Well, it’s probably better to just get used to these types of large-scale meetings — Washington Business Journal reports that the World Bank signed a ten-year lease on all office space at 1225 Connecticut Avenue NW.
>> Curious what the White House was serving G20 dignitaries last night? “The official menu included fruitwood-smoked quail, thyme-roasted rack of lamb and baked Vermont brie with walnut crostini, along with three wines.”
