FOOD & DRINK: Tonight’s the big night for Beaujolais Nouveau fans. Head over here for a rundown of which restaurants are staying open late to celebrate the annual uncorking, and note that one other party, hosted by BYT at 1905, is now over-booked and only those who have RSVP’d will be allowed in.

MUSIC: Locals Laura Burhenn and Revival open up for Minneapolis singer-songwriter Jeremy Messersmith at the Velvet Lounge. 9:30 p.m., $8, 21+

FOOD & DRINK: Cheese expert Steven Jenkins is hosting an olive oil event at National Geographic Live! tonight, featuring a selection of artisanal oils paired with gourmet food. Jenkins will explain the olive oil production process along with Joshua Wesson, master sommelier and co-founder of Best Cellars. 7 p.m., $60.

MOVIE/ART: It’s a good night to stop by the Smithsonian American Art Museum after work. Not only are they hosting a special free screening of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, as part of their “American Classics: Page to Screen” film series, but they are also the site of one of this week’s FotoWeek DC Night Gallery projections in the Kogod Courtyard from 5 to 7 p.m.

MOVIE: Remember that tonight is the special screening of Jean Cocteau’s 1946 film version of Beauty and the Beast we told you about in our film picks column. 6:30 p.m. at the AFI
