>> Popular on the underground circuit, Philly’s Jedi Mind Tricks recently released a new album, A History of Violence. They’re at the 9:30 Club. $17, 7 p.m.
>> Tina Turner is on that list of consummate performers, like Elton John or Bruce Springsteen, that everyone should see at least once in their lives before it’s too late. Tickets to her two shows at the Verizon Center aren’t cheap ($59.50 to $153), but are probably worth it. 7 p.m.
>> David Rees, the brains behind the brilliant Get Your War On comic strip, will be at Busboys and Poets at 5th and K Streets NW to discuss and sign copies of the book version of his work, Get Your War On: The Definitive Account of the War on Terror, 2001-2008. 6 p.m.
