It’s a holiday week and things around the city are a little slow (including us, with posting the Agenda. Sorry about that). If you know of something worthwhile we’ve missed, please feel free to drop it in the comments.

TUESDAY
>> I once stumbled into a show at the Black Cat a little early and caught the opening act, Caverns. I was so unprepared for what they delivered that my jaw was planted firmly on the ground throughout their set. They pump out huge sounds with surprising rhythms and really unexpected combinations, that when all put together, just kind of flat out rock. They’re at the Cat tonight, with Coliseum and Helsinki. $8, backstage, 9 p.m.

>> Is this thing on? Step up to the mic for the DC Karaoke Show Down at the Rock and Roll Hotel. You take the reins and make the music for a change. 8:30 p.m. We hear there will be prizes.

WEDNESDAY
>> “NOTE: MARNIE’S KISSING BOOTH is OPEN. (she can refuse to kiss anyone based on grossness and poor mental and physical hygeine).” So proclaims the DC9 listing for Marnie Stern‘s show this Thanksgiving-Eve. You hear that people? Shower and brush your chompers for a chance to smooch on the utterly lovely Marnie Stern. And get your face melted by a guitarist with the virtuosity dexterity of an Yngwie Malmsteen and the math-rock sensibility of a Don Caballero. $10/$12, 8 p.m.

>> If you’re still in town, and you’re looking for something, anything, that will keep you from facing one of these situations, might we recommend kickin’ it live with Meth & Red at the 9:30 Club? Yes, the whole “still high” schtick may be getting a little old, but it’s almost guaranteed fun. $27.50, 7 p.m.
