Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

MONDAY
>> Vampire Weekend at 9:30 Club is sold out for both Monday and Tuesday. Tickets are on Craigslist for $40, $50, $70. Good luck with that.

>> D.C.’s own Loose Lips (not to be confused with the Washington City Paper’s Mike DeBonis) play backstage at Black Cat. Mittenfields and Teedo (who’ve got a bit of that T. Rex glam-rock thing going on) open. 9 p.m., $8.

>> For the nearly 40 years, the Jefferson Airplane spin-off band Hot Tuna have been playing the blues, and Monday night they’re coming to the Birchmere. 7:30 p.m., $35.

>> The first Monday of every month, some of the area’s best alt-country musicians morph into The Federal Reserve collective and perform a mix and match set of their tunes at Iota. It’s a good time, and a bargain! 8 p.m., $5.

TUESDAY
>> Someone find these bands a studio so they can stop recording in their basements/garages/warehouses. Sun Tornado, Moon Pie, and Emitjes play at the Velvet Lounge. For lovers of the ambient and experimental. 9 p.m., $5, 18+.
