>> DJ Nitekrawler‘s monthly “Moneytown” party will be going down at Dahlak (1771 U Street NW). Joining him will be two funk loving Virginians, the Scorpio Brothers. Free, 10 p.m.

Saturday:
>> Regarded as one of the best female MCs in hip-hop, Jean Grae (pictured) will be at the Black Cat with Company Flow alum, Mr. Len. Also joining them will be broken beat maestro, Mark de Clive-Lowe. $15 in advance/$18 at the door, 9 p.m.

>> Borrowing from the themes of the 1990s movie Kids, DJs Lil’ El, Jackie O, Nacey, and Steve Love will be holding a party at DC9 featuring some of that decade’s bigger hip-hop hits and various goodies. Free before 10 p.m.

>> Another “Hometown Heroes” set will take place at the Trinadad & Tobago Association (5123 Georgia Avenue NW). Highlighting the D.C./Baltimore house music scene this time around will be Thommy Davis, Mandrill, and Deep Sang, among others. $10, 10 p.m.

>> Philly husband-wife act Kindred The Family Soul will be at the 9:30 Club with Atlanta’s Anthony David. $25, 8 p.m.
