MUSIC: The “Piano Prince of New Orleans,” Davell Crawford, starts a four-night stint tonight at Bohemian Caverns. His infectious and funky gumbo of gospel, R&B, and jazz will be on display with nightly 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets, and will, no joke, feature Roberta Flack as a special guest. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
ART: Don’t miss our story on When Absence Becomes Presence, the first event of Washington Project for the Arts’ Experimental Media Series, which is holding a special screening and curator’s talk tonight at the Phillips Collection. 6 p.m.
MUSIC: Poor But Sexy (featuring ex-Dismemberment Planner Jason Caddell) are at Velvet Lounge, along with The Bloodsugars and Typefighter. 9 p.m., $8.
READING: Politics and Prose co-hosts political humorist Calvin Trillin at 7 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church (5312 Connecticut Ave. NW). Trillin, of course, has a book he’s pushing, which sadly is a little out of date: it’s called Deciding the Next Decider: The 2008 Presidential Race in Rhyme.
THEATER: Our critic enjoyed Shakespeare Theater’s new romance-heavy production of Twelfth Night, and so can you! Tickets are still available for tonight’s 8 p.m. performance. $20-$72.50
