Flickr user hudson snapped this photograph at the National Gallery of Art — specifically, along the underground walkway and tunnel connecting the East and West wings, where New York–based artist Leo Villareal has installed a massive light installation comprising some 42,000 LEDs and custom software to regulate their twinkling. The 200-foot tunnel now features patterns that flow across the light matrix, which opened just in time for the holidays. Add this to your list of light-seeing destinations. Amy Cavanaugh interviewed Villareal for DCist back in September.
