The Redskins may have been eliminated from the playoffs with a Falcons win yesterday afternoon, but a 10-3 win against division-rival Philadelphia Eagles gave fans who are still paying attention an excuse to smile.

The ‘Skins win was hardly a barn-burner, but sweeping Philly is a feat in of itself, and it was a relief to end the three-game skid. To keep with the holiday cheer, there is a bit of pleasure knowing that the Redskins win made it far more difficult for the Eagles to make the playoffs. It’s a reach to find positives at this point, but misery loves company.

The game was a defensive struggle – and was perfect for those baking holiday cookies, decorating a tree and/or frying latkes. An occasional glance sufficed, as both offenses failed to produce much of anything.
