The Washington Post reports that former Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe will run for governor of Virginia. McAuliffe announced the news via his Web site. In that video, he presents himself as an inheritor to the mantle of former Governors Mark Warner and Tim Kaine. You can expect to hear much more about this progressive lineage over the course of the campaign. Like a true Clintonista, he wastes no time in framing his opponent, GOP candidate Bob McDonnell, framing him in a negative light before his own run has officially begun. The Los Angeles Times notes that McAuliffe raised “$940 million between the Clintons and the DNC” and has captured the support of Virginia billionaire Randal J. Kirk.
