About Tonight is back! It missed you, too.

MUSIC: It’s a hot night for rock shows. First off are electro-poppers Passion Pit, who were moved from Black Cat‘s backstage to the main stage in order accommodate demand — we confess we had no idea there was that much buzz around the Cambridge, Mass. outfit, but if you like to be in on the in-crowd, this is probably your best bet. Paper Route and Cale Parks open. $12, 9 p.m.

MUSIC: Over at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue, Mercury prize winning Antony and the Johnsons (think Sufjan Stevens meet Belle & Sebastian) are set to perform, with New York’s Matteah Baim opening. Tickets are $30 in advance. 8 p.m.

LECTURE/MUSIC: In case you missed this weekend’s tribute to the anniversary of the deaths of Richie Valens, Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper, there’s another event commemorating the tragedy tonight, on the actual anniversary of the day their plane went down (February 3, 1959). Musician J.P. McDermott will deliver a lecture and give a performance devoted mostly to Holly at the National Museum of Natural History‘s Atrium Cafe. $40, 6:45 p.m.

READING: Fans of NPR’s Left, Right & Center will want to catch host Matt Miller in conversation with Daniel Pink at Politics & Prose. He’ll be reading from and signing copies of his book, The Tyranny of Dead Ideas: Letting Go of the Old Ways of Thinking to Unleash a New Prosperity, at 7 p.m.

MOVIE: The AFI Silver and SILVERDOCS host a special screening of the Academy Award-nominated documentary Trouble the Water, with an in-person q&a with co-director Carl Deal. The film tells the story of an aspiring rap artist and her charismatic husband as they struggle to survive after Hurricane Katrina. 7 p.m.
