CLASSICAL: Superstar violinist Joshua Bell — no, not in the L’Enfant Plaza Metro station this time — is playing a recital with pianist Jeremy Denk at the Music Center at Strathmore. The house is already sold out, of course, but you can always contact Washington Performing Arts Society directly to see if there are any tickets that become available at the last minute. Looks like there’s a few options on Craigslist, too. 8 p.m.

LECTURE: Looking for a little something, anything heartwarming out of the world of economics and finance? Spend an evening with Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Bangladeshi banker and economist who will be discussing his book, Creating a World Without Poverty: Social Business and the Future of Capitalism, at the Lisner Auditorium. 7 p.m., $15 for admission; $25 for admission plus copy of the book, tickets available here.

CONVENTION: The Washington Auto Show kicks off today at the Washington Convention Center. Weekday passes cost $10 ($12 on the weekend), and the show stays open until 9 p.m. tonight and tomorrow, and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Check out the schedule of events for celebrity appearances and drool over the “green” and concept vehicles.

DJ: Did our review of Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion pique your interest? Head down to Fuzz at Cafe Saint-Ex to catch the Collective’s Geologist sitting in as a special guest DJ. Read our interview with Geologist, a.k.a. Brian Weitz, from 2006 before you go. Free, 10 p.m.
