Good morning, Washington. Apart from the stimulus package, D.C.’s top story over the weekend was the gorgeous warm weather. This DCist editor spent Sunday eating brunch outside and then wandered around the National Zoo, all while wearing only a thin sweatshirt. How long will it last? The five-day forecast is calling for a week of all above-50 temperatures, although nothing quite like Sunday’s 67 degrees and sunny conditions. How did you take advantage of the warm weather over the weekend? Let us know in the comments.

Is Metro Managing Our Expectations? The Examiner’s Kytja Weir follows up on last week’s news that Metro’s board may consider drastic cuts in service hours with an interesting one-two punch: first she quotes a Metro spokesperson positing that “people will be asking for a fare increase” instead of accepting the service changes, and then offers a quote from the president of the National Association of Railroad Passengers guessing that Metro officials “are crying wolf” in an attempt to outrage the public so that they will demand more money be spent to save the public transit system.

A Violent Weekend: The good weather didn’t provide much relief from gun violence in the metro area this weekend. Three men were fatally shot in the District in the past three days, reports the Post, and two men were injured by gunfire in Capital Heights, Md. early this morning.
