Call me naive, but I refuse to believe that “sexting” is actually such a problem among American teenagers that it required both NBC4 and WUSA to both do scary stories with bold graphics on it last night, especially considering WUSA has done two previous stories on this “trend” in the last few months. The NBC4 story embedded below is a different version than the even more hilarious story they ran on the same subject during the 11 p.m. news last night, but I think it gets the point across: it really seems like the only reason anyone is taking these kinds of stories semi-seriously is because “sexting” is such a funny word.
