TALK: From 7 to 8 p.m., Politico and Starbucks are teaming up at SBux inside GWU’s Gelman Library (2130 H Street NW) to host a political conversation moderated by Politico’s Mike Allen: CNN’s Dana Bash and John King will both be on hand to discuss the new administration (NBC’s Chuck Todd apparently had to cancel). Free, but space is limited so get there early.
MUSIC: Young singer-songwriter Sonya Kitchell is touring behind her sophomore album, This Storm, and bringing those soulful-beyond-her years tunes to Jammin’ Java. With Naia Kete. 8 p.m., $10.
JAZZ: Veteran guitarist Sanjay Mishra is known for combining a modern jazz sensibility with the sounds of his native India, and has collaborated with the likes of Jerry Garcia and DJ Logic. He will perform 8 and 10 p.m. sets tonight at Blues Alley. Tickets are $20 + $12.50 minimum/surcharge.
TALK: Film geek? Hollywood producer Lou Stroller, whose credits include Scarface, The Rock, The Producers and Carlito’s Way, will be at Sixth and I tonight at 7:30 p.m. to “share clips and behind the scenes stories” at an Inside the Producers Studio event. Free, but RSVP suggested.
