William Vancroft

Pamela Butler

D.C. Police are continuing to ask for the public’s help in locating two missing District residents.

Pamela Butler, 47, was last seen at approximately 9:48 p.m. on Thursday, February 12 in the 5800 block of 4th Street NW. She is described as a dark complexioned black female, 5’3” tall, weighing about 120 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.

Recent reports don’t paint a very positive picture about Butler’s disappearance. A program analyst with the Environmental Protection Agency, Butler’s family says it is very unlike her not to check in with her family or not to show up to work. Police have since obtained surveillance video from her home security system that shows her talking to her boyfriend a little before 10 p.m. on the night she disappeared, with whom she reportedly broke up that night. The boyfriend can then be seen going back into the home several times before leaving. The Examiner reports that police have questioned the boyfriend and that he is cooperating.

William Vancroft, 17, was last seen at about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2009 in the 1300 block of G Street SE. He is described as a medium complexioned black male, 5’8” tall, weighing about 168 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a burgundy sweater. He is in need of medication and police warn he may appear to be disoriented.

Vancroft suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome, and family members have told reporters he disappeared exactly one year after his father, William Arthurt Vancroft III, was struck and killed by an automobile.

Anyone who has information regarding either Butler or Vancroft’s whereabouts is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
