Hopefully everyone enjoyed the opening of DCist Exposed last night — personally, I was happy to wait in line for as long as necessary to celebrate those of you that illustrate our posts all year. If you weren’t one of the over one thousand folks who packed their way into the reception last night, there’s plenty of chances for you to check out the exhibition. DCist Exposed will be on display until March 7 at Flashpoint, open for viewing Tuesday through Saturday, 12 – 6 p.m. Hey, why not check it out today?
In local news this morning, Councilman Marion Barry’s kidney transplant appears to have gone off without a hitch. Barry had planned to attend a press conference this morning to update his condition, but that might be asking a bit much less than 24 hours after a six-hour surgery to replace a vital organ — especially as doctors at Howard University Hospital kept him on a breathing tube all night.
In other news this morning:
>> The Post reports that Thursday’s third Metro derailment on the Yellow Line was caused by a missing guardrail. Metro did plan to replace the missing guardrail in question before the accident as part of the National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation into the previous derailment at the Mount Vernon Square station which injured 23 people in January 2007.

>> AP: Yes, the box turtle — lovable as it may be — probably wasn’t cut out to be a fearsome state reptile.
