Ward 8 D.C. Council member Marion Barry had planned to be in attendance at today’s D.C. Council legislative session, but NBC4 first reported this morning that he wasn’t there when the session began at 10 a.m., and now D.C. Wire follows up with word that Barry’s doctor ordered him to stay home.
Barry underwent kidney transplant surgery on Feb. 20.
The Council member had been expected to introduce emergency legislation today to force the University of the District of Columbia board to hold off on its recently approved tuition increase. The legislation wasn’t expected to have broad support on the Council.
