FOOD & DRINK: Tonight is the Dining Out for Life event, a citywide effort put together by Food and Friends, a local non-profit organization that delivers free meals and groceries to Washingtonians struggling with debilitating illnesses. Choose from this list of participating restaurants, which will each be donating 25-100 percent of their proceeds from tonight to Food and Friends.

TALK: The National Archives is holding a panel discussion tonight in conjunction with opening of their 75th anniversary exhibit, BIG!, titled Big Strides, Diverse Paths: Women’s Journey’s to Political Leadership. Political commentator Eleanor Clift of The McLaughlin Group will moderate a group of women that includes Congresswomen Mazie Hirono, Marsha Blackburn and Grace Napolitano; former Vermont Governor Madeleine Kunin; and former Lieutenant Governor of Ohio Jennette Bradley. Free, 7:30 p.m. in the McGowan Theater.

MUSIC: Tickets are still available to catch The Black Lips tonight at Black Cat. Read our review of thair last trip through town. Atlanta’s Gentleman Jesse and His Men and Seattle’s Sons of Guns do the opening honors. $15 day of show, doors at 8 p.m.

HAPPY HOUR: The Sixth & I Historic Synagogue hosts a unique Purim/French fusion happy hour tonight in conjunction with the Alliance Française’s regular Carte Blance series. DJ Hervé will spin alongside French videos, a Marcel Marceau lookalike will be on hand, plus a Queen Esther costume contest, an iPod playlist contest, and of course, crepes and hamentashen.
