D.C.’s retail employees breathed a sigh of relief over the weekend after a suspect was arrested in a string of robberies that targeted lone cashiers, often women, over the last several weeks. But now police say that another, similar robbery occurred today at the CVS at 2129 14th Street NW, at W Street.
Police say that a preliminary investigation reveals that a man entered the CVS just after 3 p.m. and obtained an undetermined amount of cash from a female cashier in the rear of the store before making a successful escape from the scene. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made. The suspect is described as a medium complexioned black male in his mid-30s, approximately 5’4” tall. It’s not known whether the suspect was armed.
The suspect in the previous robberies, for which 29-year-old Ezra Mathis was arrested, was described as a light complexioned black male in his late 30s, approximately 6’2″ to 6’4″ tall.
