MUSIC: Seattle’s These Arms Are Snakes are joined by All the Saints, The Coathangers and Three Stars alums Caverns for a night of intense rock at the Rock and Roll Hotel. 8 p.m., $12.

CLASSICAL: The Leipzig String Quartet are in town for a free concert tonight at the Freer Gallery of Art. The group will play an Asian-themed program of music by Takemitsu, Hosokawa, Tan Dun, and John Cage. Reservations were required, but unclaimed seats will be released on a stand-by basis. 7:30 p.m.

MUSIC: Tickets to see Common at the 9:30 Club are predictably sold-out, but Craigslist has a few options. Doors at 7 p.m.

JAZZ: Yesterday, we profiled the University of Maryland’s jazz program. Tonight, the University Jazz Ensemble will be performing at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. 7:30 p.m. Free.

TALK: The Early Show‘s Hattie Kauffman will be at the American Indian Museum’s Rasmuson Theater tonight as part of the Spotlight on Native Women series. The Emmy-winning CBS correspondent is the first Native American journalist to report on a national broadcast, and she’ll be discussing her experiences with author Liz Hill.

MUSIC: Hypnotic guitar-rocker Marnie Stern is at DC9. Three Stars alum Black & White Jacksons open. 8 p.m., 18+.
