By stgermhDid this weekend’s taste of summer weather make you start thinking of things like barbecues and picnics? The fine folks behind Fort Reno apparently felt the same way. The call for submissions has officially opened for 2009’s Fort Reno Summer Concert Series in Tenleytown. If you’re a local band with a yen for playing outdoors, all you need to know is available on the Fort Reno web site. Here’s the gist:

Fort Reno welcomes cassette, vinyl and CD submissions. Be sure to include your name, address, phone number and contact email address. Submissions will be accepted through March 27, 2009. Packages received after March 27 will be put on a reserve list. Also include some brief band details, including the names and ages of your band members, how long you’ve been together, who you are and a brief statement explaining why you’d like to play Fort Reno.
A lineup announcement will be made sometime after March 27.
Fort Reno also has a new Facebook page you can join, which MacKaye tells us she’s still figuring out how best to use.
Good luck to all of the local bands we already love and the ones we haven’t gotten to know yet. Fort Reno is DCist’s Official Favorite Summer Activity, and we’re already anxiously awaiting the Monday and Thursday night exercises in carrying blankets on Metro and remembering money for the ice cream truck.
