The Pogues

MONDAY
>> It’s the middle of March, which means two things: basketball and all things Irish. As has become tradition, Shane MacGowan and his band, The Pogues, are extending their annual visit to three nights at the 9:30 Club in celebration of St Patrick’s Day. Monday and Tuesday are both sold out (try Craigslist), but tickets for Wednesday are still available. $55, 7 p.m.

TUESDAY
>> There’s sure to be whiskey in the jar this St. Paddy’s day as Rose hosts her 5th annual celebration of the holiday, along with some of D.C.’s other alt-country acts: Revival, John Bustine and Brandon Butler. $6, at DC9.

>> The always subtle Rock and Roll Hotel is celebrating the greenest of holidays with their Party Till You Puke St Patrick’s Day party, featuring free swag, drink specials and an appearance from the Jameson girls. Not music-related, but if you’re looking to drink too much in honor of the removal of snakes from a country you don’t live in, this option will probably have fewer holiday-related hassles than your standard-issue pub. Free.
