More OCTO updates!

D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty announced today that he has ordered a “full and formal review” of the Office of the Chief Technology Officer. The news comes in the wake of the arrest of a second employee in the ongoing federal bribery investigation and the firing of 23 contractors associated with the office. The Offices of the City Administrator, Attorney General and Inspector General will work with outside auditor BDO Seidman to examine individual OCTO contracts and financial controls.

The OCTO’s authority to issue contracts under $500,000 without review has also been rolled back to $100,000 indefinitely, Fenty said.

Fenty also formally announced the appointment of Chris Willey, formerly the Deputy Chief Technology Officer, as interim director of the Office of the Chief Technology Officer. The former Chief Technology Officer, Vivek Kundra, recently departed to become President Obama’s Chief Information Officer.
