Quoted in the story confirming that we’re all on Obamawatch duty: Mayor Adrian Fenty, Dee Dee Myers, Valerie Jarrett, Ari Fleischer, and local homeless man Bill Richardson, plus a handful of presidential historians and former aides to presidents. The gist of the article: “No other modern president has reached out so widely to so many corners of the city.” It’s only been two months, and we’re already making that call?
Peaceaholics Back in the News: The Peaceaholics are once again making a renewed push for relevancy. The Post covers their initiative to send volunteer ex-offenders to the Anacostia and Minnesota Avenue Metro stations a couple of times a week to deter youth violence. Over at the Examiner, Kytja Weir covers the group’s efforts at encouraging Metro to continue to hire ex-cons, despite recent events with two Metrobus drivers with criminal pasts.
Metro Board to Take Another Stab at Budget Cuts: Metro’s board is meeting again today, and WTOP’s Adam Tuss is going out on a limb and suggesting that they will actually take action today. ” The board is expected to finalize its list of cuts Thursday, then set a series of public hearings,” Tuss writes. Of course, the board had been expected to approve budget cuts a month ago, and every week since, and it still hasn’t happened.
